Head Start's effort to educate children and families, EARLY in life, about the importance of proper oral health care, is routine conversations held in the classroom, during parent meetings and in homes for many, many years. Children with healthy and consistent dental habits, have happy smiles, have more confidence, can engage in learning activities without pain, eat a variety of healthy foods more easily to grow and be strong, and generally be more successful in life! These examples and more, can be attributed to good, oral health care practices.

Here you see an example of our efforts to promote dental care education. For those children without a dental home yet, we have coordinated (with parent permission) dental cleanings and examinations by a team of dental professionals from the SMILES program. This mobile dental program is an great opportunity for children to be more comfortable in their classroom setting if they have fears of going to a dentist - giving them kid-friendly education, teaching good brushing tips and answering any questions they may have - they have many These pictures share a thousand words and bright smiles and health teeth now and encouraged in the future.
